Periods, Progress, and Showing Up Anyway

by in Move & Train May 31, 2025

You ever wake up during your period feeling heavy, drained, emotional, and just off like everything you’ve been doing suddenly isn’t working anymore?

Girl, it’s not you.
It’s your hormones.

During your period (and even the days leading up to it), your body is going through a full-blown hormonal shift. Estrogen drops, your energy dips, cravings hit hard, your digestion slows down, and water retention kicks in.
Translation?
💥You feel puffy.
💥The scale might go up.
💥You don’t feel like working out.
💥And you’re probably craving everything but a salad.

And guess what?
All of that is normal.

But here’s where I’m gonna challenge you with love:
This is not the time to give up on yourself.
This is the time to slow down and shift, not stop.

No, you might not crush an intense workout this week.
But can you go for a walk? Can you stretch? Can you do 20 minutes just to help your body move through the bloat and cramps?
Exercise actually helps relieve period pain, improves your mood, and keeps your digestion moving.
It might be the last thing you want to do but it’ll make you feel better once it’s done.

Same goes for how you eat.
You might have a day where you cave to cravings.
That’s okay. It happens. But don’t stay there.
One “off” day isn’t a failure it’s just a moment.
Show yourself grace, but also accountability.
